UPCE Scholarship Program

Good day members of the UPCE,

As previously mentioned, the Union of Postal Communitions Employees “UPCE” has created its own scholarship program for UPCE members and their children. This is in addition to any existing Public Service Alliance of nada “PSAC” scholarships that may be available.

The $2,000 UPCE Scholarship Program, is available to all UPCE members in good standing at the time of applition (and their children), who are enrolled at a post-secondary institution.

Jordan's Principle

Jordan’s Principle is a child-first principle named in memory of Jordan River Anderson, a First Nations child from Norway House Cree Nation in Manitoba. Born with complex medil needs, Jordan spent more than two years unnecessarily in hospital while the Province of Manitoba and the federal government argued over who should pay for his at home re. Union dues adjustment

Dear UPCE members,

Please note that you will see a small increase in your union dues starting in April 2019. This change will reflect the negotiated salary increases in the last round of bargaining. In normal circumstances, the rates would have been updated within a few months from the signing of the new Collective Agreement. However, we only applied this change in April 2019. Although this adjustment should have been implemented in April 2018, no retroactive deductions will be made.

Confronting racism— Day for the elimination of racial discrimination

The United Nations has made the theme for March 21, 2019: Mitigating and countering rising nationalist populism and extreme supremacist ideologies.

UPCE on Back-to-Work Legislation

The UPCE fully supports the CUPW and CLC joint statement on nada Post negotiations and joins a number of other unions, including the PSAC, our bargaining agent, in condemning the federal government’s back-to-work legislation. We view this legislation as an attack on our rights as workers.

CUPW Rotating Strikes

The UPCE National Executive is appalled to learn that nada Post management has decided to discontinue sick leave provisions for CUPW represented employees, especially during rotating strikes while a majority of the impacted employees remain actively at work.?

Recognizing the contract dispute, the UPCE vehemently opposes any company’s attempt to win a labour dispute by preying on the most vulnerable. The fact that nada Post would not only deny its employees from accessing disability benefits, but kick them off the system while they are ill, injured, or disabled is llous.
